WIP Wednesday

WIP Wednesday.  This project is coming together so fast.  So far I just have the purple and red blended and I was having a hard time deciding if I was going to arrange the colors.  So I did a quick mock up with just the balls to see what colors I needed more of, and how to get the best flow from each color.  This was a great and simple trick to getting an idea of how I wanted it to look without making all my hexagons at once.  I am loving the colors together and can't wait to see it all finished.  Funny thing when my Mom said she sent brown I didn't think I would use it at all.  But as I was going from purple to red it didn't look right without it!  Mom's are never wrong, I don't know why I haven't accepted that yet.

What are you making your Mom for Mothers Day?

Leaving you with my rainbow I saw Tuesday morning.  I was taking the dog out for a quick walk while there was a short break in the rain.  :)  The air was so fresh and it was a beautiful morning.  I got this shot and within minuets the rain was back and the rainbows were gone.  Glad I caught a glimpse of it I love rainbows!!

Scrappy Mini Purse Tutorial

Hello!  I am in love with this scrap stash busting project.  If you are anything like me and can't throw even the smallest yarn remnants away here is a fun day project for you.
Or a single new skein to make a solid bag.

Here we go.  I used a 4mm G-4 hook to keep it nice and tight.  I don't plan to add a liner.

Make a 7" swatch
Chain 26, skip first 2 stitches and Hdc in each stitch till the end.  Make 19 Hdc rows

SC on three sides of the swatch.  Repeat for 5 rows. Leave enough tail to whip stitch the other panel in place.

Now you have a bag.  I like to start right at the whip stitch seam with the next step.

Single crochet 2 rows in the top of your bag to make a nice edge.

Start your handle.  5 SC back and forth and make it as long as you like.  Crochet handles tend to stretch so keep that in mind as you go.

Fasten off when you get it to the desired length and whip stitch it in place.

For the flap I went back to Hdc, two stitches over from the handle start your first row.
Make 4 rows, then start to decrease once stitch on the next 4 rows.  Then decrease 2 stitches on the next two rows, in the middle of row 6 make your button hole. (chain 3 skip 2 stitches)

SC one more row decreasing 2 stitches.  (SC into the space for the button hole, not the stitches)

Now make the finish off the edging for the flap with 3 rows.  Row 1: SC around the edge.  1 sc in evenly spaced along the edge, when you come to then corner 2 SC in one stitch.

Row 2: SC in each stitch with 2 sets of clusters in the corner.

Row 3: SC 3 stitches, chain 3, slip stitch into the post of the last SC (picot) , SC 4 stitches, make your picot and repeat till the end.  Finish off, weave and trim all ends.

Pick out a delicious button to finish off your work and take your new purse for a night on the town!

Orange, Purple, Pink Oh My

Sorry not the best lighting..... But I couldn't help but take a pic right away.  My Mom is the sweetest Mother ever.  I told her I would make her a blanket for Mothers Day when I was done with mine.  And she sent be a package full of yarn!!  I got started on it last night and love the progress so far.  Even though I just made one it is a new color palate and feels like new.  Because this blanket will be smaller I am making the motif smaller too so I can fit more color in.

Here goes my Geometric Lace #2
Enjoy your weekend!

Craft room wishes

 craft room

Just day dreaming of what my craft room one day could be.  Currently I have a messy craft tote and basket.  And let's just say that isn't cutting it.  But I will be patient till the day comes that I can have a craft room all to myself.

Mini Swatch Purse

Hello my fiber loving friends!  Remember my inspiration purse I got this past weekend?  Well  I am even more in love with the crochet version than the original.  :)  The funky scrappy swatches I made were really neat and have made quite interesting bags.  It's funny how you can surprise yourself with your own creativity sometimes.  I get kind of hung up getting inspiration from Pinterest or other crochet blogs and forget how to push myself with my own ideas.   This was a happy reminder to set away from the internet and let my own ideas flow.

The first swatch purse is fresh from the hook and the second of many is on the way.

My peach tulips are opening up.  They are so beautiful, the color is so sweet!  I love fresh flowers in the house they make me smile every time I see them.

Ready set sew

Good morning!
Nap time came early here today.  My little Mr. was a bit of a grump and is taking a nice long nap.  So after all the laundry and fun Mom stuff was done I sat down to finish up my pincushion.

I sewed a felt liner, stuffed it with a little stuffing leftover from my Easter bunnies and some black beans for weight.  It is adorable!  And will not get lost, its pretty big.  That is good for me, I am a messy sewer and never seem to know where my pincushion or scissors are.

Weekend Treasures and Scrappy Crochet

I love a good treasure hunt early in the morning.
As always I came across a few good items that I didn't necessarily need but could not pass up.
1- Lovely little woven purse.
2- A beautiful Frank Moreno globe pot.
3- A sweet green mid vase :)  I was looking for a green one last week but didn't see any.  So I was happy to come across this little guy.  I might need to keep my eye out for a larger cabinet. It's getting quite full.

The little woven purse inspired me to make a batch of small tight stitched scrappy bags.  I will post a tutorial of the process soon.  It's been fun to play with all my tiny scraps and stitches I have not used before.

My pincushion so far, ready for stuffing :)

And just for fun some colored hexagons.  Maybe a skirt, cushion, purse.... I have yet to decide.
Sneaky little hands now able to reach the top of the table, my crochet is not safe.  Now I need a cute box with a lid to keep his hands out of my stash and projects.
